Traditional toolpaths are driven solely by the shape they're cutting, but Dynamic toolpaths consider a much wider variety of factors. In essence, it takes the optimal parameters for a perfect straight-line cut and works to apply them to an entire toolpath. What can it do for you? A member of the Mastercam Support team designed some new motorcycle wheels for his Harley and handed the project over to our Applications Engineers. With Mastercam Swiss Expert 2013, CNC software is now supporting full 5-axis simultaneous motion. This part was cut on the S-SS327 5-ax in conjunction with REM Sales to help prove out the new 5-axis toolpath motion. The new multiaxis toolpaths in Swiss Expert 2013 include the ability to be created as 3-axis and 4-axis toolpaths for machines that are not as complex as this model of Tsugami.

Doug Hepler, owner of Polyshot Corp expresses his fist impressions of Mastercam's Dynamic Motion technology. He explains how shocked he was to move steel through his machines 3 times faster than he did previously. Because of the way Mastercam handles tooling he was able to buy a new machine with a 40 tool changer rather than the 60 tool tool changer that he thought they needed, essentially saving the company $19,000.
